His collection was impressive and overwhelmingly illegal so he will remain unnamed too. I have been guided by David Letsoale and Paul Nkhumane for Cape Parrot and other difficult forest species. We were introduced to a local specialist, but this gentleman turned out to be interested in caged birds.

They might want to look for a better press representation though, as the related NYT article is titled “ Trash Parrots Invent New Skill in Australian Suburbs “, which is kind of a mixed message. It is certainly not true that writing a post about Australia and not mentioning flying foxes is illegal, but why take the risk?

There is a painfully bad song called “Drunk Bird Watching” on You Tube but the only “bird” seems to be someone saying “hello” like a caged parrot. Considering how hard it can be to focus one’s eyes when drunk I imagine it would be even more difficult to focus optics.

He meant well, but his research told him to feed them Exact parrot formula – which is NOT a diet for ravens. The caller had three baby ravens from a nest he was ordered to remove and destroy at work. He refused to harm them, so was left no choice but to bring them home and care for them.
