The food is great (our group enjoyed a fantastic vegetarian gourmet repast at the Casa Botania as well as wonderful meals at the Cascatata del Bosco ), there are some cozy places to stay in fine habitat (the same two places just mentioned), and the climate is pretty much perfect at this 1,000 meter elevation. And it wasn't "vegetarianism" rather than "veganism," as though my husband went from omnivore to vegan overnight, I do understand that most people stop eating flesh first. When I read that last sentence, I cringed.

I do know people who became vegan (also after watching " Earthlings ") who are now vegetarians, pescetarians and run-of-the-mill omnivores. Someone who goes from vegan to vegetarian to eating cows isn't really in a position to judge anyone. What does this mean? We role play with questions or comments he gets at work.

If PCRM can get more people to try a "vegan diet" for 21 days as suggested, which is what in my experience used to be called "strict vegetarianism" (and which is no better), that's an actual decrease in animal use for those people. If they did that, they'd most certainly get pounced on.

My husband has two friends (a male/female couple) who are transitioning from vegetarian to vegan and I also have two friends (both women) who are transitioning from omnivore and all are dreading Thanksgiving. They grill the chickens, and trust me when I say it's all presented as a peak spiritual experience. He always refers to himself and his wife and his child as "vegetarian." But why does he say "vegetarian?" That bothers me, as there's a significant difference in motivation for vegans and vegetarians and he sounds like one, yet calls himself the other. The plate might have to be five feet across" (50). Keith: As a historian or even an anthropologist, one could make the argument that being a vegetarian limits one's ability to understand other cultures. I, like you, am not a complete vegetarian.
