There are 154 species of cuckoos in the world, and they’re all a fascinating bunch. I reckon I’ve seen around 60 or them, which still leaves a lot to go. I’d really like to see a Coral-billed Ground Cuckoo (South-East Asia), while to see any of the Madagascan couas would be pretty cool (there’s 11 of them). Obviously this depends on how you weight different criteria, but I'm thinking of animals that have a good combination of many different traits: agility, sprint speed, endurance, fighting ability, jumping ability, ability to swim. I'll submit the wild horse as a good candidate given this combination of features.

As the sole candidate for 2024-26 AVMA vice president, Dr. Gary Marshall will be elected to the office by the AVMA House of Delegates (HOD) when it holds elections during its regular annual session this June in Austin, Texas. Dr. Marshall is an adjunct professor at Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, a feline practitioner, and the alternate delegate for Washington state in the HOD.

Although many think of the Pacific Northwest as a rainy with lush green forests, the region east of the Cascade mountains is characterized by dry sagebrush rangelands ( shrub steppe ). Much of that original habitat has now been lost to agriculture. However, the region’s dominant river — the Columbia River — which serves as the border for much of Oregon and Washington, also flows through these rangelands.

Back when I was a kid growing up in California’s San Mateo County in the 60s and 70s, my family would occasionally drive 45 minutes west and south to Bean Hollow State Beach. Even now, I remember my mother commenting how that goofy English name sounded so much more romantic in its original language: Arroyo de los Frijoles. Little did I imagine that someday I would live much of my life in that same Spanish language.

So i'm making a game where you guess a random animal by using dropdowns and guessing stuff like continents(a dropdown called continents with the 7 continents, you chose one and if its correct you know what continent/continents it lives on) and other things about the animal. I know this sounds stupid , but I get really paranoid about stuff like this. So I was playing with a new dog and I didn’t notice I had a minor cut on the tip of my finger that the dog maybe accidentally licked. Also while playing one of the dog’s teeth gave me a very small scratch on one of my fingers. I don’t really know much about the dog’s owners or if they keep up with vaccinations , but am I crazy for thinking I can get a rabies or something ?

We have been a problem for ALL animals for more than 10,000 years, and now we have polluted the earth so bad that flowers are blooming in Antartica, just image your children in the future asking “Dad/mom what’s a penguin?” Or what was a polar bear, we have been killing wild life since humans have appeared, and there’s nothing we can do about it at this point, the damage has been done, humans aren’t important, humans are a mistake.

Was walking today and saw a turtle. I walked up to it but it of course, moved away from me. I stopped and watched it for a minute and saw a bird land by it, not trying to hurt it or something but just felt like landing in front of it I guess. The turtle didn't speed up or go the opposite direction, it just kept slowly crawling, getting right up close to the bird, who didn't even seem to pay it any mind as it passed.

Y’all should really check this guy out. He makes content on YouTube and works with all kinds of animals most would consider “scary” or dangerous. He also does bite/sting videos like Coyote Peterson but without the fake overreactions plus more information. His vids actually helped me overcome my arachnophobia. Here’s a tag to one of his videos.

Instead of placing in a tub or box that easily stress the snake out, I put mine in the empty top load washing machine with the lid closed my snake was not stressed at all when I retrieved him Also if your snake may bite non venomous of course, I use pot holder gloves when handling in case of a bite.

William is a resident peacock at the zoo I volunteer at and has free rein of the property. I must say he’s rather handsome. One of the people in charge of animal food gave me some blueberries to feed him but he was appalled that I wanted him to eat out of my hand and left. He was back like 10 minutes later.

We have them on a site where I'm working and mamma goose is sat on the nest on some eggs daddy goose is round the corner going nowhere near the nest but won't leave the corner just sat on the grass.
