Low pitched screaming sound from animal at 1 AM

I took my dog out last night around 1 AM and was frightened by this low pitch screaming sound coming from off in the distance. We have some farms with livestock nearby as well. It did not sound human so I am wondering what type of animal it may be. Genuinely curious what it might be.

I want to trap a mouse that lives in my house and keep it as a pet. Otherwise it takes its chances out in the field. What do you all think?

I live with one dog and my elderly father. My dog is a livestock guardian breed so when she saw the mouse I just said to leave it and now it walks right past her too she ignores it like the spiders, I made sure she was well trained. I've got my dad and me and the dog to worry about and I keep a clean house.

It's farm country and you have a lot of farmers and ag types who treat companion animals as little better than livestock. Lots of "guard dogs" outdoors for their entire lives, etc. But this article seemed a little over the top to me.
