Animals for research purposes are coming from municipal shelters, breeders and the greyhound trade. Unwanted farm dogs are another source. In 2007, 394 dogs died during procedures for canine and human research. None of the animal shelters contacted by the Herald Sun have come across ex-research dogs in need of a home.

From the feral cats of Project Treadstone to Charles' back surgery to problems with Violet's Vetsulin (insulin for dogs), we had more than our share of issues. Greyhound skin is very thin. First let me say that there is no recall of Vetsulin (often used to manage the diabetes of dogs and cats) as of today. That if you have a diabetic dog or cat and you use Vetsulin, you have to be diligent. Tags: Current Affairs Greyhound Matters. It was updated in mid December and is still not a recall. So what is it?

I tried soaking it (I soak the dogs' kibble) but she wouldn't eat it. I bought a new laser light and my husband and I have committed to using it every day and getting her to sprint around the house (away from the dogs-don't worry) for at least 15 minutes/day. Are the kids cooking monkey, cat, dog, alligator or turtle? Would I ever say I restrict my diet to food that wasn't made from the parts of creatures as sentient as the greyhounds I share my home with? I am a vegan who has adopted a diabetic greyhound who eats vegan food ( Natural Balance ), and who is adopting a boy from Russia. question is important when it comes to adopting special needs animals, like Violet Rays, our rescue greyhound. As a vegan, having a diabetic dog involves making decisions that make me uncomfortable.

Violet Rays is not a kid dog. So when we adopted a human baby we knew we'd have to teach that human to avoid Violet. The growing little human in the house was basically taught to stay far away from dogs and respect their space. If Violet can be said to love anyone, it's other greyhounds. And she does.

Not all dogs were born with lush fur coats that keep off the winter chill. Breeds with very short fur like Chihuahuas, boxers and greyhounds may have a hard time keeping warm, making even brief walks uncomfortable. Like human feet, if they are much colder than normal, your pet may be uncomfortable. Keep Them Close.
