Today, Rabbit Meadows shows definite signs of age, wear and tear from weather and badly needs an upgrade. To accommodate the sanctuary rabbits, our adoption center and our compassionate human visitors, Rabbit Meadows plans to build a series of small cottage-like structures among the picturesque fir trees on its grounds.

My pet turtle does not exercise, at his option, any rights over itself, things, or people. Some philosophers admit rights only for beings who are capable of choice, and this is reflected in definitions of 'rights' as 'ranges of action' or 'spheres of autonomy'. If animals have rights, then these are welfare rather than option-rights.

The main reason seems to be a better sharing of the workload in the more equal same-sex couples – something that is hardly irrelevant for humans. It seems they kept a pheasant as a pet for the chick. No wonder species definitions are so problematic. Much cheaper than a brother or sister.

So when we adopted a human baby we knew we'd have to teach that human to avoid Violet. The growing little human in the house was basically taught to stay far away from dogs and respect their space. There were 15 greyhounds in the small pet food store, and Violet and Stanley were equally uninterested in the event.

I thought the British see themselves as very fair sportspeople – this is definitely not a good example. On the other hand, in the West, mice, and rats are also kept as pets, maybe with the same logic. I wish there was a way to give some guns to Hen Harriers so that they could shoot back.
