Kirtland’s Warbler is a classic niche species; they breed in only very specific conditions, which occur in only a very specific area. Fish and Wildlife Service. this species breeds. Fish and Wildlife Service tells states when they may propose a hunting season on cranes, and has ultimate jurisdiction over whether the states get their seasons. There are 400 whooping cranes left in the wild, 100 of them in the eastern population.

After all, what was thought as its habitat was heavily deteriorated and converted to agriculture as the human population grew. A captive breeding program was established with a facility at Gustavo del Solar’s property, not far from where the birds were re-discovered.
