Now it is perfect weather for camping in the bush and enjoying the wildlife and for this reason we took two days to explore the bush between Broome and Derby. One species we are more likely to find in this area than others is the Varied Sittella. Although there were not a lot of individual species there was a great variety.

We have only ever observed this species in flight, so it was rather special. A Parks and Wildlife officer in Kalgoorlie told us that he called them the “dreadlock plant”, because that is just what they looked like! Among these bizarre plants we observed Orange Chats , Crimson Chats , Zebra Finch and Crested Pigeons.

The two most prolific contributors, Pat and Tom, have been sharing their birding space in Costa Rica. The beats have now contributed more checklists than birds.
