Birding Nonggang, Guangxi, China

10,000 Birds

Perhaps the star bird here is the Nonggang Babbler , which was first observed by professional ornithologists only in 2005. When buntings meet for a family reunion, I can imagine the Crested Bunting is the focal point of the attention – the one that got rich and popular compared to all the others. The skull cap, I guess.

Musings on a Life List

10,000 Birds

(My Shoebill photographs, incidentally, were digiscoped from a small boat, so they’re not as sharp as they could be, but they are great reminders of an encounter with an extraordinary bird). Ingrid Taylar: Bridging the Divide Between Cat and Bird Lovers

10,000 Birds

Years ago, I became a wildlife volunteer and advocate because of a cat who caught a bird. Back then, I didn’t know enough about birds, but I knew a lot about cats. I surprised her and she dropped the bird before vaporizing again. They simply helped me with my bird. That was my first trip to California Wildlife Center.
