Beljarica Backwaters: Some good news announced (but not yet official)

My readers are already familiar with Beljarica Backwaters, as described in half a dozen posts here at 10,000 Birds. It all started well three decades ago, when I intensively birded the Danube Backwaters by kayak. Now, I have mixed feelings: cautious and by experience mistrustful, but happy. White-tailed Eagles in Beljarica.

Best Bird of the Weekend (First of November 2012)

Finally, many of us not struggling to pull it all together after the storm or campaigning in crucial swing states were granted one extra hour this weekend to do something fun. Twitching

Twitching is a British term used to mean “the pursuit of a previously located rare bird.” Basically, I never had the time to chase birds. My second twitch, during the winter of 2011, was also in the area of McArthur where an American Tree Sparrow ( Spizella arborea ) was spotted during a Christmas Bird Count.
