Driving slowly along the track towards the levee separating this area from the Danube backwaters, a largish marten-like animal once ran across the track. Once I observed a man walking his two small dogs here, passing by a perched White-tailed Eagle but looking down at grass and not noticing the largest raptor in Europe at all.

If you put some animals (both wild and domestic) on an island and left them there to roam free and we come back after a few years who would survive. In my opinion dogs would be the first to go. Would suprisngly rodents and small animals. The ones who would last until the very end would be lions , tigers bears, eagles and wolves.

It takes a lot of nerve—or something that can’t be printed here—to name your rat poison after the animals that so effectively and efficiently control rodents but that are also being poisoned—as “non target” animals—by your product. Syngenta warns that “Talon” is “hazardous to dogs, cats, pigs, poultry and other wildlife.”

Oh, the joys of urban birding… Add half a dozen Ferruginous Ducks (cover photo), two Whiskered and 40 Black Terns to the previous picture, plus an eagle, an immature White-tailed Eagle. A man walking his two small dogs is passing by the eagle, looking down at grass and not seeing the largest raptor in Europe.

For a split-second I was considering the white morph of the Booted Eagle… while noticing that they do not have long stork necks and that they were… Egyptian Vultures ! Asia: Somewhere below that mysterious eagle, at the far shore of the lake, lies one Bengal Tiger … and further to the right – two more!
