I haven’t yet been birding in Europe but whenever I occasionally skim a field guide about the birds on the other side of the Atlantic, I’m always encouraged to find that I’m already familiar with many species found over there, even though most of my birding experience has been limited to eastern North America. He had better luck on Sunday, seeing a host of autumn migrants including his Best Bird of the Weekend, an Orange-crowned Warbler at the Queens Botanical Garden that he spotted just before the New York City Audubon bird walk he led.
