Every year, roughly 3 million lost dogs and cats end up in shelters in the United States. Lost pets is a growing issue that teens care about. So DoSomething.org asked young people to submit ideas for reuniting pets with their owners. She’s also going to start a blog featuring photos of lost pets from her community!

The family simply did not have enough money to feed their beloved dog and with breaking hearts they relinquished him to a shelter where he died shortly thereafter of a broken heart after being so loved by this family for many years. If we see someone who is already poor get a new pet we won’t support them.

Purina ONE has teamed up with Martha Stewart to visit animal shelters from San Francisco to NYC throughout the month of February. At each stop, Purina ONE will give out free Purina ONE dog and cat food to all attendees (11,000 bags across the nation), and also host adoption events at local shelters.
