If you don't have to enslave, rape, dominate, or kill someone (or have someone else do it for you), why would you? Yes, it is hypocritical (speciesism), but who said that we either protect humans or animals? It's not difficult once you get the hang of it--it's just different at first. Where do people get that idea?
