Judge Michael Mosman’s ruling means Washington, Oregon and Idaho can shoot or remove up to 85 sea lions next year. Mosman denied an attempt by the Humane Society of the United States to stop the killings. The animals eat salmon as the fish try to pass Bonneville Dam each spring.

CDC considers the risk to people from these HPAI H5 infections in wild birds, backyard flocks, and commercial poultry, to be low.

The writers at 10,000 Birds span the globe, but I am particularly interested in the lists for the United States, as that is my “beat.” As of mid-October 2018, the Collaborative had submitted more than 1,700 checklists and observed 618 species in the United States.
