Baby the Maltese recently got a chance to try out some sweet potato fries from Doctors Foster and Smith. She was pretty excited to try them out, and got so happy about them that each time she gets one, she runs and plays with it before finally settling in to eat it. We captured one such event on video (you can watch if you like). The treats are all natural, made of only sweet potatoes.

Awful story, but this is the reason I support PETA, even when they do wacky things sometimes. Their investigations produce results. From the PR Newswire. An enormous victory was achieved for animals this week when nearly 200 dogs and 54 cats were rescued from a North Carolina animal testing facility that closed its doors after an undercover investigation revealed apparent abuse of the animals by workers at the facility.

Breast cancer is something that is near and dear to our family. Both of my grandmothers had it, one of whom lost their life to it. So of course when we got this press release we were more than happy to share the word. What a fun event, and a great way to help spread the word and raise funds for a great cause! It’s that time of the year again! The Center for Disease Control recommends people begin getting flu vaccinations in October. On the pet side, the H3N8 virus, or canine influenza, has been a growing concern. H3N8 is the virus that causes flu in dogs, and while there are no known cases of a human catching the flu from their pet, it can be passed from dog to dog.

Scott DeMuth, a sociology graduate student at the University of Minnesota charged last year with felony conspiracy under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act agreed yesterday to a plea bargain. DeMuth was originally charged in connection with a 2004 lab break-in at the University of Iowa that caused more than $400,000 in damage.

She went back to red meat because she said the vegan diet almost killed her and was aging her hands. (I just don't believe she tried all that hard or was very firm in her convictions.
