I wasn’t having any luck at all though I was enjoying the typical assortment of wetland species that make we New York birders a bit jealous of our southern compatriots. I knew that I could count the introduced Muscovy Ducks in front of me but did I want to? feral Muscovy Duck at Blue Heron Wetlands, Titusville, Florida.

Mallards are a Threat to Mottled Ducks in Florida

It is also known for the 500 exotic species of animals and plants that now call the Sunshine State home. Exotic species are animals that did not historically occur in Florida. One such species is the familiar mallard (Anas platyrhynchos). Mottled Ducks apparently genetically intact.

For once, eBird gives a good description of the Asian Glossy Starling, calling it a “Fierce-looking, large songbird” As are humans, this species is fairly urbanized – it “sometimes enters urban areas to roost, e.g. in Singapore” (HBW). Lucky ducks. “Odd, me?”
