The source of this ranking, BirdLife International, lists Bolivia as currently having 1,439 bird species, including 18 breeding endemics. The guide covers 1,433 species, the number of birds documented at the end of 2014, the cutoff point for the book.

The very first thing we notice about this large member of the Galliformes is that there is a wild version and a domestic version, and although the two are rather different, they are both given the same species name, Meleagris gallopavo. Open from dawn to dusk 7 days a week, it has an eBird hotspot list of 79 species from 16 submissions. It has an eBird score of 197 species from 25 checklists. Despite being so busy, it can be very productive for someone with limited time. The eBird list for PE Tiete contains only 123 species from 11 checklists submitted.
