The Reva Situation

Driving slowly along the track towards the levee separating this area from the Danube backwaters, a largish marten-like animal once ran across the track. Once I observed a man walking his two small dogs here, passing by a perched White-tailed Eagle but looking down at grass and not noticing the largest raptor in Europe at all.

A federal government decision to allow a Wyoming tribe to kill two bald eagles for a religious ceremony is a victory for American Indian sovereignty as well as for long-suppressed religious freedoms, the tribe says. The Northern Arapaho decline to say specifically what they will do with the eagles the federal permit allows them to kill.

As we passed by a small body of water a couple of Apolinar’s Wrens ( Cistothorus apolinari ) skittered in between the stalks of grass and one of them even sort of displayed on top of a small plant with its tail raised high up. Ah, what the heck!

A little bit further, while watching a large Sambar wallowing in the mudbath, Manoj points our attention to a Crested Honey Buzzard on one and a Changeable Hawk-Eagle on another tree. Occasionally we go so quickly that we may be posing a danger for jay-walking animals… …and then, for no obvious reason, we suddenly stop!
