In Malaysia, 12 tonnes of exotic animal meat was seized from smugglers. It consisted of bear, iguana and owl meat. Any kind of meat is gross to me, but owl? Tags: exotic meats smuggling malaysia. don't know how I come across these weird stories. That's new to me!

As I learned this week, locals cook the unripe fruit into meat dishes, and eat the ripe fruit raw… as do birds! Finally, I’ll let you see some of my encounter with an expressive Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl.

Why does this little Screech Owl look so horrified? We receive nestling owls who have been fed nothing but hamburger, whose bones are so brittle from lack of calcium that they break when they try to stand. They are excellent opportunists, and have developed a taste for meat to an extent almost unrivalled in the parrot order. My friend Alice was very happy to see her first Kea, but this one was channeling the bored look of an owl. Kea ( Nestor notabilis ) Kea are a species of alpine parrot endemic to New Zealand. Kea are pretty loud.
