FWC officers arrived at a reptile facility and forcefully killed 29 reticulated pythons, 5 Burmese pythons, and 1 pregnant Boa constrictor. The FWC then proceeded to kill the total 34 pythons using a bolt gun. After killing Coffee's pythons, the FWC then committed another criminal act.

Well, as it turns out neither a trip to a slaughterhouse nor killing an animal yourself is powerful enough to make people go vegan. Many of us have difficulty with the idea of keeping “pets.” When it comes to pets, the only reasons he considers for keeping pets have to do with the enrichment of the lives of people.

The main difference is that Foer doesn't eat meat (though he does, as it turns out, eat some animal products) and he challenges the cultural assumptions that tell us that some animals are for petting and some are for eating. It's okay to produce animals to use them and then kill them (or kill them to use their parts as food).

Pepper was a beloved family pet. A Dalmatian, stolen and sold for research, she was likely terrified and probably in enormous pain when she was killed, a couple of weeks after she was taken.
