The order Suliformes holds a lot of special birds from anhingas and darters to cormorants and shags as well as frigatebirds, pelicans, and tropicbirds. They are daring divers, powerful underwater swimmers, and cooperative hunters. But the sleekest of the sulids may be found in the family Sulidae.

Unless those non-birding folks happen to be duck hunters or love to go fishing, they tend to stay away from the marshes, the riparian zones, the bottom lands. While we scoped and scanned those birds, our main target suddenly appeared… American White Pelican!

At first, the road is paved, but as soon as the tarmac ends, the tracks become decorated by hunters in orange vests. The soil is disturbed by foraging boars (and there is not a single shot from those hunters). Among them are Dalmatian Pelicans , so big and lazy. I am… mesmerised by the mountain.
