Little Big Year – Week 36: Southern New Mexico hotspots.

Not so with our visit to Bosque de Apache NWR in southern New Mexico. This nice little group of shorebirds, including a Killdeer, three Long-billed Dowitchers and a Spotted Sandpipers all got together for a photo. Here is my first ever group of Gamble’s Quail , hanging around a huge feeder block. US species – 243.

One of the reasons Mexico is such a great birding area is that, while it shares all sorts of bird groups with the United States and Canada, it also is home to some of the northernmost representatives of neotropical and genera that do not (or just barely) reach that far north, such as Woodcreepers, Tityras, and Trogons.

City of Albuquerque Being Sued for Trap-Neuter-Release Program

The lawsuit was filed with the state of New Mexico, county of Bernalillo, Second Judicial District Court by attorney A. The suit says that animal groups are paid by the city for their actions and that the abandonment of the animals takes place regardless of whether there is food or shelter available. They do great work!

The Juniper Titmouse Nesting Project
