Incidentally, encounters with both aardvarks and zorillas are rare – it’s much easier to see lions and leopards. Lion – much easier to see than an Aardvark In contrast to East Africa, encounters with mammals while out birding in Europe are relatively few. I’ve also seen foxes in many other countries.

In addition to killing birds of prey, brodifacoum has also killed coyotes, grey foxes, red foxes, kit foxes, mountain lions, bobcats, black bears, Pacific fishers, and other animals, including domestic dogs and cats. In addition to the hundred or so species of birds I regularly find here, there are Desert Foxes, Bobcats, Mountain Lions, Desert Bighorn Sheep and Mule Deer. Despite the eyesore that is this mine, the wildlife continues to thrive in this harsh environment. Here are a few of the birds we spotted last weekend.

The scenery is stunning…expansive, rolling grasslands, towering vertical cliffs, cozy canyons filled with oaks, quiet coves where sea lions and cormorants mingle over the kelp forests. Aside from birds, people really seem to like Island Foxes. Of course, the island has a lot more to offer besides this jay. Many are fearless.
