The Japanese Scops Owl has the same word in its name ( Otus semitorques ), but I could not find an explanation for that either. Fortunately for them (though less so for the cuckoo), in one experiment they ejected 100% of all cuckoo model eggs. The other is the Crested Finchbill.

Birding Honduras–The Cryptic Birds

Double-striped Thick-Knee nests are shallow depressions in the ground, with a typical clutch of two eggs. Which is why seeing them was such a great experience.

Now, dont get me wrong, there have been some nice birds, and locations in between, but these two experiences are just so hard to put out of my mind. I found this little grouping of Guillemots, with parents, babies and even an egg. The show stopper was his Eagle-owl. I caught this Guillemot on the way back with dinner.
