The new cub was born at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens to a mother who wasn’t able to care for him. When zoo keepers saw that the baby was not eating and having trouble gaining weight, they made the decision to hand-raise him. It was on the SSP and Jacksonville Zoo’s advice that the new baby was brought to Busch Gardens.

There are only about 35 aardvarks in zoos in North America. He will be raised in Jambo Junction – located in the Nairobi area of the park – and will become one of the park’s educational Animal Ambassadors. With fewer than a dozen successful births each year, aardvark births are not common.

In light of this horrible incident, is it right for the zoo to carry on a breeding program that subjects more animals to such unnatural lives? In my opinion, neither Harambe nor the child should ever have been at the zoo. Finally, what of the audience?

I worked with education owls for over ten years, from Great Horned Owls to Saw-whet Owls (above bird). It’s a small education Northern White-faced Owl that completely changes shape as zoo keepers bring by other types of owls that would be a predator for that species. It helps if you can understand owl behavior.

I do think that in my lifetime greyhound racing will end, circuses will be animal-free, elephants and marine mammals won't be in zoos, and fur might even be banned. I'm still not sure why vegan education can't be part of any of these efforts. ). None of these things will happen without targeted campaigns.
