No rain in Spain

Europe lost the Buttonquail (but abundant in Africa) but the Griffon, Cinereous Vulture (José Leal’s picture below) and several eagles are making a spectacular comeback. In the book, one picture stood out in particular: the White-headed Duck. Even so, the idea of one day going out to find this rare duck appealed to me.

My eBird 10th Anniversary

For example, I’ve seen Bald Eagles in 15 states. Moreover, it contributes to science (and economics ) and the price is right. Of course, you can use the data in many ways.

The most obvious place that cryptozoology and ornithology overlap is in the area of Lazarus taxa and would-be Lazarus taxa — the Ivory-billed Woodpecker, Eskimo Curlew, Pink-headed Duck , and the like — birds that no one doubts existed once, whether or not they exist today. Week 26: San juan Islands

Out on one of the rocks that were visible during low tide, a small group of Harlequin Ducks had gathered. A pair Bald Eagles were doing fly-bys over our heads , and there were Belted Kingfishers, Canada Geese , A pair of Mallards, and three Great Blue Herons. The Pigeon Guillemot is bringing a small fish for breakfast back to the nest.
