April 6, 2011 Center for Biological Diversity files a petition to list the Dwarf Seahorse as endangered as a result of the destruction of its habitat by the BP oil spill and over collection for the aquarium trade. Officials reported 48 marine mammals, mostly dolphins, and 87 dead sea turtles during the first two months alone.

Of course Africa could not to be left out of the pink weekend so I have researched all African species whose official or alternative names include the word “pink”. Asking myself that question quarter of a century ago, I snooped through a collection of research papers in the Natural History Museum in Belgrade (before the Internet, I really had to go through papers) and found the “Ornithological Notes from the Pancevo Wetlands 1909-1917” by dr Jeno Nagy.
