After a very productive day higher on the mountain, Adilei capped out the day by locating a family of the birds which consisted of a mature pair with a grown offspring (probably). Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks , Muscovy Ducks and Blue-winged Teals were around us, together with Green , Great and Little Blue Herons , Cattle and Great White Egrets , Black-crowned and Yellow-crowned Night-Herons , plus one locally rare Pinnated Bittern in the floating vegetation, as well as several dozen Neotropical Cormorants.

Cockatoo Creek

Brolga had come into drink and there were all three species of Ibis present. The egret family were represented by the Great Egrets , Intermediate Egrets and a lone Cattle Egret. Cattle Egret. Walking out onto the bridge we soon observed a good mixture of other bird species. There was also a Black-necked Stork.

Wolfe Creek Crater birding

This is cattle country and it is actually fenced, which many parts of the Kimberley are not and you pass through Ruby Plains and then Carranya station to reach the crater. This was prolific with flowering trees, which were mostly Grevillea refracta and a favourite food for the honeyeater family of birds. Grevillea refracta.
