We at Animal Lifeline UK help animal rescues in the UK find volunteers and homes for their animals. Vet bills are covered by the rescue. The decision will always ultimately lie with the rescue though. Move animals from pound to rescue/rescue to foster home/vets etc. especially before you breed.

Contribute to rescue efforts. But when safe, able workers and members of rescue organizations are needed to work hands-on in countries in need. Veterinarians, technicians and others can volunteer to travel to Chile to help groups such as World Vets. Most organizations aiding pets in devastated areas are not-for-profit.

I volunteer for a local animal rescue so I took the dog off her hands, but since this dog hasn’t had medical care, he can’t yet be housed in a shelter as it could put both him and the other animals at risk. I can’t put him in my home because I already have a dog and a cat.

Enjoy the guest post (thanks Susan): As I write this, my black cat, Sasha, is going through her pantomime, telling me that she either wants to go out, or she wants to eat. My youngest daughter spotted the exceedingly shy black cat and wanted her. Because she had never been socialized, this cat did not even know how to purr.

Shift-It Tip: If you’re set on a purebred dog or cat, buy one from a rescue association instead of getting a pedigree from a breeder. Contact The Humane Society of the United States to locate a nearby rescue group. Good for You: Save time driving and sitting in waiting rooms at the vet office. Incredible Bulk.

This is great news for owners who have pets who have a long life span, such as dogs, cats and many other creatures. The SPCA, Lothnianís Animal Rescue and Rehoming Center have taken custody of the animal and are providing it with care. An animal shelter or animal rescue center are good options.

Years ago, I became a wildlife volunteer and advocate because of a cat who caught a bird. Now, he lay frightened and ruffled in my hands, his tail tattered, his feathers damp from the maw of a cat named Puck. Back then, I didn’t know enough about birds, but I knew a lot about cats. I scrambled for a box. I was mortified.
