When I read the description of the Mulga Parrot on a pet website, I first thought it was an advertisement for Thai mail-order brides: “The exotic appearance of the Mulga Parrot might be what attracts you first, but it’s their personality that will win you over” ( source ). Female below.

We can say with much certainty that the majority of people admire and are fascinated with the resplendent colors of macaws, parrots, toucans and hummingbirds. Many birds around the world in the Robin family ( Turdidae ) are favorites due to their musical songs. The quail, guans, ducks and pheasant are hunted for their meat.

Kennedy’s family owned many pets, including a horse, which was a present to 5 year-old Caroline Kennedy. Polly the parrot. It’s said the George Washington and the parrot didn’t get along!

At this hour I am a reluctant, under-caffeinated sherpa – and concentration must be given to the dangers of the footpath ahead.

The next day saw us making our way to El Tapir for close views of the Snowcap , a surreal fairy of a creature that stands out in an already surreal family. Loving the Ground-Cuckoo.
