Singapore’s Red Junglefowl

Red Junglefowl are under threat in Singapore due to habitat loss and inter-breeding, but we observed them most days on our hiking trips around the island and also on Pulau Ubin. It appears that the Red Junglefowl had been breeding this year around February, because we encountered many a family of them rustling around in the leaves in March.

Third time lucky for Arabian Babbler

This is the classic signature that I had been hoping for and I spent the best part of 45 minutes watching a small group interacting. Arabian Babblers live in co-operative groups usually consisting of a breeding pair and their offspring. More complex groups form when potential breeding males and/or females join.
