Here is a bit more from the shop owner: Our brand, Otrada, is about creating the most stylish animal-inspired designs for you and your home. I found some at Target, some in catalogs, some in antique malls, but why wasn’t anyone creating a lifestyle brand for animal lovers? but I could never find them all in one location.

I also enjoyed reading the company histories of familiar brands like Duncraft, Kaytee, Droll Yankee, and Wagner all of which started as family companies, some as offshoots of other businesses, some as the result of clever inventions. The story of Duncraft is a good example. This is too bad.

I first became familiar with the photographs and photo essays of Marie Read through their publication in Living Bird , the Cornell Lab of Ornithology magazine (British-born, Marie lives in the Finger Lakes area). Her photos have appeared in numerous magazines, educational exhibits, calendars, and she has won prestigious photography awards.
