Then I went to another place and I saw another bird and several of another species of bird. But if a blog post is an un-or-poorly illustrated, straightforward account of a birder’s visit to a local park that lacks amazing birds or scenery is there any reason to read it? I went to a place and I saw a bird. Really boring.

In another of these strenuous links to something rather irrelevant that this blog hopefully is not famous for yet, there is a great song by Frank Turner, “A wave across a bay” About Scott Hutchison, singer of the band Frightened Rabbit who committed suicide at a bay in Scotland. The Crested Mynas do not seem to mind.

Occasionally the Tristan Thrush Nesocichla eremita will prey upon chicks from the two-egg nest of the Inaccessible Island Rail but this not enough in any way to threaten the species.

Redgannet, the blog, has taken a back seat while 10,000 Birds does most of the driving and Mrs Gannet does the navigating, so it has slightly lost its way over the last year or so. But, if you have arrived from out of town, with no car and limited time, you need ideas that can easily be achieved from the city centre on public transport.

The crucial factor limiting the maximum baggage is the transport of the entire German population to their new home in the central Saharan desert regions of southern Algeria, Mali and Niger by camel. However, I will certainly miss old friends from home.
