Tennessee Warblers? Although the small but mighty Tennessee also occurs on the Caribbean, it’s a lot more common in the drier habitats of the Pacific slope and upper elevations. Typical Tennessee Warbler wintering habitat in Costa Rica. Costa Rica? Pish and a dozen might flit into view.

The Three Bears general store has been called out time and time again for mistreating these Bears, the bears look miserable have no clean water, all water in the sanctuary is dyed. A person threw an apple into the area and an elderly Asiatic Brown Bear quickly scrambled to lap it up leaving no pieces behind.

I’ve been birding on the Tennessee side of GSM for over thirty years; and Cades Cove is at the top of my easily accessible, ‘private’ habitats. This area, located in the southeastern Tennessee side, is one of the few open spaces in the park. Black Bear cub. Most visitors arrive by car and take the one-way, 11-mile Loop Road.

Based on birding this very morning from the back of my place in Costa Rica, I can guarantee that at least some Baltimore Orioles, Tennessee Warblers , a Painted Bunting and a few other migrants are still far to the south. Baltimore Oriole- one of the more common wintering birds in Costa Rica.

The same goes for Blackburnian and even Tennessee Warblers. Some Tennessee Warblers also feast on bananas. I plan on bearing witness to the ongoing event, with luck, I will find something rare mixed in with the droves of regular spring migrants. To add to the avian excitement, aquatic birds are also on the move.

North American warblers, on the other hand, often bear names of, at best, marginal utility. Tennessee Warblers may be fairly drab by the prismatic standards of this group, but they certainly get around. In fact, Tennessee Warblers are the most abundant warbler in the coffee plantations of Central America in winter.
