Costa Rica is more than cloud forest with mega worthy quetzals, more than rainforest with fancy Keel-billed Toucans and luscious Green Honeycreepers. Not a huge number, especially compared to forest communities, but still enough to make the birding in Costa Rica interesting. Any big trees nearby? Bobwhites persist.

Although it was nothing like going from New York to California or even Buffalo, New York to North Carolina, a change of location, however slight, can bring new birds especially in Costa Rica. I also saw the other, most common Columbid in Costa Rica, the Red-billed Pigeon.
