There has to be something I can do to reduce all of the suffering of the animals we use as food, I thought. Now, I don't want to do anything extreme, like go vegan. Veganism is too fringe for me, and I'm pretty sure you have to be a Communist, or at least a Socialist, to be a vegan. I call it VBM: Vegan Between Meals.

While no study has documented how frequent these clashes have become, therapists agree that the green issue can quickly become poisonous because it is so morally charged. I have a definition of animal rights and for abolition that makes me an animal rights activist and an abolitionist. the word irregardless.

Because I've been thinking about the evolution of my own thinking--and languaging--regarding animal rights. Both animal rights groups and animal welfare groups use "compassion" frequently. Then again, so do people who kill animals for a living. After all, they "love" the animals they kill. Or vegan pumpkin pie.
