And are sensible to things, be it sound, smell, they can sense things, be alert, like cat whiskers, or rabbit ears, etc. they are haunted by other animals, or are in trouble due to humans, maybe humans hunt them or use them for experiments, maybe now there's few in wild or most have been domesticated, anything like that.

Dirt hawking is a form of falconry that involves hunting rabbits and other small game with Harris Hawks (other hawk species also qualify). One of the primary reasons that these hawks make such excellent falconry birds is because they are one of only two raptor species (the other is the Galapagos Hawk ) that hunt cooperatively.

People have moved useful plants and animals around with them as long as they had the wit to do so. They took dogs to Australia, chickens across the Pacific, rabbits to England, horses to the New World, and then brought potatoes back. In many ways, that is exactly what happened. First of all they wanted useful species.

European Red Foxes were brought into Australia in the 1850′s for recreational hunting and soon spread rapidly. We have seen them on remote beaches hunting shorebirds and taking their eggs and they have been responsible for much of the egg loss in breeding Pied Oystercatchers along the Broome coast.

Just before Thanksgiving, 2010, a driver spotted a Red-tailed hawk sitting on a dead rabbit in the middle of the road. She wasn’t about to leave her rabbit, and the driver figured something was wrong, so he picked her up. One of the animal keepers brought her to me, and I put her in my clinic. And to prove it, there’s The Queen.

In the Far East they keep birds of prey which they use to capture other animals such as foxes and rabbits. The quail, guans, ducks and pheasant are hunted for their meat. The introduction of exotic animals has extirpated and continues to threaten hundreds of species. And these are just the direct assaults against birds!
