I have to say that pretty much every time that I see a great photo of an owl in flight, swooping down from a perch or low to the ground, in invariably think to myself “that was baited” I might be wrong, but I’m willing to bet that I am right far more often than I am wrong. Today she found her owl.

It takes a lot of nerve—or something that can’t be printed here—to name your rat poison after the animals that so effectively and efficiently control rodents but that are also being poisoned—as “non target” animals—by your product. Plants, animals, as well as birds. This area, with its year round water supply, supports a huge amount of life, with coyotes, fox, bobcat and many different rodents, like this Mexican Ground Squirrel. There is also a kitchen dining room building across the courtyard. Then a White-winged Dove showed up.

No coyotes in sight right now, the Great Horned Owls are off in the cottonwoods closer to the river. Also ferrets are curious animals, explorers, willing to take risks; they’ve had to be. She draws herself up out of the hole and goes humping on to the next. Maybe this is the one.

I was high and happy, not from “420” drugs but from the altitude and the anticipation of seeing woodpeckers and owls I had never seen before. We also saw Prairie Dogs , Bison , Mule Deer , Abert’s Squirrel and Coyote. All bird and animal pictures are Brad’s. I ticked off 9 lifers.

I've heard someone saw some coyotes about a year ago but I haven't seen or heard them. I think I heard an owl once last winter. And I have found one small dead garden snake in the street. Lots of squirrels, chipmunks, deer, rabbits. but that's pretty much it for mammals. Maybe some kind of grackle? Oh and a turkey one time.
