The Rangers in Virunga can continue their daily routines of removing poachers snares (536 snares were found during the recent census taking), filming newborn gorillas and simply enjoying the results of their tremendous sacrifices to protect the gorillas. Over 150 rangers have been killed on duty in this park in the past decade.

And the two species were not inclined to get on, by which I mean that Lions will kill other large predators including Painted Wolves. Her concern was well founded.

He also had tigers, cougars, and some other animals. And I think he was speaking only of our American Kitties not the Wildcat of Africa.

Or, Pygmy leaf-folding frogs, Afrixalus brachycnemis, from Tanzania, tiny climbing frogs who lay their eggs in leaves and then fold the leaves over them for protection, sealing the nest with secretions. As Mattison says, “Frogs are unlikely to be mistaken for any other type of animal.” And, they look like frogs.

In the past I have attributed some of this conflict to differences between the conservation mindset and that of animal rights/animal welfare. And embattled minority should be protected. I still think that distinction is important, but it isn’t sufficient to explain what is going on here. A hungry child should be fed.

This Lion should not be shot, as it is a protected reserve that forbids shooting. Hunters go to Africa to shoot lions, and this is without question a good thing; for birds, for ecosystems, and for lions in general! Cheetahs would be quite happy with you shooting Lions as Lions are bastards that keep stealing their kills.
