Yes, the earth has gone around the sun twice since the uproar from birders and other lovers of wildlife managed to convince the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to table the idea of hunting Sandhill Cranes in Tennessee for two years. Cancel the 17-year-old annual festival, and propose a hunting season on cranes. It’s bad PR.

PETA to Target Vancouver Olympics Over Seal Hunts

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says Vancouver's Olympic organizers have the clout to convince the Canadian government to end the controversial seal hunt on the East Coast. The group will launch a new campaign on Wednesday featuring the 2010 Inukshuk logo clubbing a seal, with the five Olympic rings dripping blood.

Deeper into waterworld, alarm calls of a group of Common Starling … looking up to see the European Pine Marten taking a fledgling down the tree, with a dozen adult starlings barking on it aggressively in vain.
