With the latest news of finding the virus in a cat, here is an update about the H1N1 virus and how it affects your pets. Cats should be monitored. Although it was previously believed that cats were also safe, a cat in Iowa has now tested positive for the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus. Dogs are safe. H1N1 and your pets.

Luckily, it appears that the virus won’t pose a big risk to dogs and cats. You should also be careful if you have a pet bird as they have sensitive respiratory systems that are susceptible to other human illnesses (such as colds).
