She’d stand there and pee down her leg right in front of us, couldn’t control her bowels or bladder. I ended up taking her to the vet thinking it was an anxiety issue. We have been trying for two years to get her into the shelter because we are at our wits end and don’t know what to do. Every shelter we check is full.

That did not stop a New Jersey animal shelter from publishing this rabble-rousing flyer on Facebook, all written in alarming red capital letters: PARK RANGERS AND VET OFFICES ARE PUTTING OUT WARNINGS. One might say the heart of the person who wrote the flyer was in the right place.

I volunteer for a local animal rescue so I took the dog off her hands, but since this dog hasn’t had medical care, he can’t yet be housed in a shelter as it could put both him and the other animals at risk. The puppy is a 6 month old Chihuahua-mix and he came with papers (written in Spanish) that may or may not be legitimate.

Their shelter is full. One wound (the one on his front right leg) was to the bone. He has been vetted and is healing nicely. Dogs they can not place in foster care or find adoptive homes for are euthanized after 14 days by county ordinance. Flex is a handsome, neutered male, red fawn greyhound (currently under 60 pounds).
