On a recent visit I threw my bags in the hotel room and went straight there, and got over 60 species of birds in a few hours and fantastic views of Nilgai , the largest antelope in India. As she continued her monologue about these cats, the Wildcat cautiously walked in our direction, never taking its eyes off of us, stiff-legged, ears motionless, striped like a standard “tiger” domestic cat but entirely in grays. He also had tigers, cougars, and some other animals. They are invasive species.

Last year, in November, I notched up a dozen species of butterflies, an impressive total anywhere in Europe so late in the year. A Kerkini mini-tiger Disappointingly, mammal encounters are few, other than the odd Roe Deer. It was photographed on the east embankment. Despite appearances, they are remarkably docile.

A Wood Stork lands in a tree, while one Neotropical River Otter swims across and climbs a floating log. In a rock-garden in the middle of the river, one Fasciated Tiger-Heron was fishing, with both Amazon and Green Kingfishers nearby. It was a sigh of relief when I discovered that my species #1000 became a Short-tailed Hawk.

We encountered over thirty species of birds around the Singapore Sports Hub on each visit and the best location we found was close to the Singapore Indoor Stadium. We also observed Tiger Shrike in this area, Common Iora and Oriental Magpie-Robin. Singapore Otters. Brown Shrike. Changeable Lizard.

1,712 species, 12% of which are endemics. News flash–I just received the trip report from Carlos, and the tally is 419 species recorded, of which 16 were heard only; plus Ian and I saw an additional species before the tour started, courtesy of Paulo Boute. Oh my gosh! I shouldn’t have been surprised. Any suggestions?
