It was created by Mexico’s government in the last century as an industrial and port city, and has all the lack of charm those attributes suggest. My wife hates heat. But this past week, my wife travelled to the U.S. to visit her elderly father.

I kind of expected to see some sort of industrial wasteland; but a fair amount of forest is still there. In Mexico they call the Ash-throated Flycatcher “Copetón Triste” , or Sad Crested-Bird; it’s mournful call distinguishes it from other nearly-identical flycatchers of the Myiarchus genus.
