The author of the eBird entry for Elliot’s Laughingthrush (various locations, Qinghai and Sichuan) seems almost a bit contemptuous of the bird, remarking that on its habit of “scrounging for human-made trash” I thought that is more of a gull thing to do? Paul, I think we are soulmates.

The Blue Whistling Thrush is presumably named for its loud human-like whistling, and possibly for being blue. Even though the English name may indicate that it mainly feeds on crests, it really mostly eats reptiles, primarily tree snakes (HBW).
