as I was running this morning, I couldn't help wonder what the difference is between his book and The Compassionate Carnivore and the myriad others written by people who despise factory farming, yet claim to love animals (and of course love their "meat," and find a way to get it while not feeling bad about it). It's okay to choose betrayal.

This article reaffirms my belief that it's more humane to slaughter horses in the US than to ship them for slaughter to Canada or Mexico. I don't like it either way, but one is better than the other for sure.

I wrote often about such farmer/authors and found their rationalizations quite creepy. That's respect.

Parker uses the term "anti-modern farming activists," which is new to me. I prefer "anti-unnecessary slaughter of sentient nonhumans" and it has nothing to do with perceived modernity. The HSUS isn't even anti-hunting ! Besides, is the "modern" veal crate something to be proud of?
