The Juniper Titmouse Nesting Project

The Juniper Titmouse ( Baeolophus ridgwayi ) is a passerine bird in the tit family Paridae. The Aldea Birding Group that spearheaded this project placed 70 nest boxes in our open spaces and pulled in volunteers to monitor them during the bird’s mating season. Outstanding Pied Oystercatcher parenting!

One pair of Pied Oystercatchers laid eggs the first year and did not appear to realise they were supposed to sit on them, but they have since learnt it is an essential part of rearing a chick and they have done so since.
