Stamps to the Rescue ! Adopt a shelter pet stamps from the postal service were just revealed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show! We love Ellen, not only is she funny and positive, but she has a big heart for animals (especially the ones needing rescue)! So it was no surprise that she would help unveil these great new stamps from the US Postal Service. This campaign continues the Postal Service’s 50+ year tradition of raising awareness of serious social issues with special commemorative stamps.

Coincidentally, last night was a board meeting for our homeowner's association, and though I wasn't on the agenda there's always time for homeowner comments about, say, the petting zoo and pony rides that are scheduled for the spring "BBQ" ( here 's part one of this story). We recently got a chance to check out a lovely line of jewelry that celebrates animals, and supports the ASPCA! It’s called Heart U Back , and they offer a lot of fashion forward choices for animal lovers. I got a sample of the Heart U Back friendship bracelet , and it is my new favorite thing to wear. They are really fun, and the little bones that are nestled inside the silk threading are quiet stylish.

Looks like they'll need to since nobody else wants to protect them. In Qatar yesterday nations voted down a proposed ban on exporting Atlantic bluefin tuna. Greenpeace says the New Zealand Government voted against the ban – spelling disaster for the future of the species. Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully wasn’t available today to confirm how New Zealand voted.

I hope they can do it. I absolutely despise circuses. The campaigners claim polls show 90 percent of the public would support such a ban. Hmmmm.sounds awfully high to me. When they tried to ban circuses in Seattle about 10 years ago, there was this big outcry. It was actually pretty weird. Tags: circuses UK.

Delegates to the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) conference in Qatar voted down three of four proposals to protect sharks. This really sucks. According to the New York Times. China, by far the world’s largest consumer of the cartilaginous fish, for sharkfin soup, and Japan, which has battled to keep the convention from being extended to any marine species, led the opposition.

?After my long weekend up North I returned to a message from our neighborhood association announcing a picnic on April 11 on the Village Green. We paid a heap of extra money to live on the Village Green, so anything that happens there is basically happening in our front yard. Like a "BBQ, pony rides and a petting zoo!"
