This 90 acre lake, managed by Arizona Fish and Wildlife is about a 45 mile drive from Tucson, and 9 miles from Mexico, as the Chihuahuan Raven flies. The layout of the lake has many small fingers that provide shelter, shallow water and many dense areas of Willow and Cottonwood trees. One raft along had over 380 birds in it.

There are four scenic overlooks, a woodpecker viewing area, a migratory duck pond, and access to The Appalachian Trail. While a small park of only 1,050 acres, it’s surrounded by the massive Chattahoochee Wildlife Management Area. Sky Meadows State Park, Virginia. There are guides for historic buildings as well as birding tours.

The male shown in the video above, filmed at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, was in the process of gathering nesting material for what usually adds up to a dozen to two dozen nests! It is obvious to me that the male Marsh Wrens at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge are getting ready for the females to visit their breeding territories.

From spring hole to spring hole we slowly moved, our captain providing running commentary on the number of gallons flowing from Silver Springs, the number of movies that had been shot here, and the wildlife seeking shelter within the cool waters. Of course, Anhingas have caught on to their hiding techniques.

The only shelter is at the Sailing Club and there are also picnic tables there too. The reservoir offered Tufted Ducks , Eurasian Wigeon , Gadwall , Northern Shoveler , Common Pochard , Eurasian Teal , Eurasian Coots , Great Crested Grebes , Little Grebes , Canada Geese and Greylag Geese. kilometres/2.25
